
Flowers are referred as symbol of love. Many beautiful girls are showered with flowers every valentine’s day. Here are some tips to keep these flowers fresh for more number of days.
*Keep the vases very clean and use colored glass. The darker the glass it is for nasty green slime to grow.
*Cut dries stem bottoms diagonally immediately before putting them in water.
*Remove all foliage below the waterline. Note that dethroning roses may shorten their life.
*Don’t shock flowers with cold water. Cut stems fare best in warm water, about 45 degrees Celsius.
*To prevent dehydration, keep cut flowers away from direct sunlight or large appliances.
*Don’t put flowers near a bowl of fruits, especially apples, pears and plums. They emit ethylene gas which causes wilting.
*Use either a commercial floral preservative or something similar. Lemonade is good preservative.
*Every three days recut the stem, clean the vase, completely replace the water and add more preservative.
